What it measures
Measures volumetric soil water content (VWC) at several levels of the profile. It shows whether water remains near the surface, reaches deeper roots or drains below the useful zone.
How it works
A single probe integrates several measuring points at different depths. Each level detects changes in soil permittivity and AgroMind displays how moisture evolves throughout the profile.
What you gain
- More objective irrigation decisions
- Less wasted water and less water stress
- Historical data to compare seasons and prove efficiency
Installation
You install it yourself, with no building work and nothing to set up
The sensor arrives pre-configured from the factory. No trenches, no power supply and nothing to connect to the internet: you place it, fix it and it starts sending data.
Step by step
- 1
Pick the spot
A typical point in the plot, inside the area the irrigation wets. Avoid headlands, puddles and machinery paths.
- 2
Make the hole
Use the auger to open a vertical hole as deep as the probe.
- 3
Insert the probe
Push it in straight until only the head sticks out. Pour in a little water and press the soil around it so no gaps remain.
- 4
Tidy the cable
Tie it to a stake, post or trellis with a cable tie so it doesn't get snagged.
That's it. From then on, readings reach the AgroMind app on their own.
What you'll see in the app
Readings reach AgroMind on their own. This is what you'll be able to follow:
Moisture (VWC)
Available water level
Trend (up/down)
Crop consumption vs irrigation/rain input
Dry-down rate
Sandy soils dry fast; clay soils slower
Plot thresholds
Adjusted by soil, depth, and yield target
Where you'll get the most out of it
Vineyards and olive groves
Fine-tune regulated deficit irrigation, avoid excessive stress
Fruit trees
Prevent stress spikes and improve uniformity
Vegetables
Short, frequent irrigations; optimise fertigation
Cereals / extensive crops
Season tracking and intervention windows
How the data reaches your phone
The sensor works together with a module that collects and sends the readings.

Frequently asked questions
At what depths does it measure?
The probe has several reading points spread along its length. You see moisture near the surface and at depth at the same time, across your crop's whole root zone.
What's the advantage over a single-level sensor?
It shows how water moves through the profile: whether it stays near the top, reaches deep roots or drains away below them. It's the best choice for tree and vine crops (vineyard, olive, fruit) and for deficit irrigation.
How do I know if I'm over-irrigating?
If after each irrigation the deepest level rises and stays high, water is passing below the roots and being lost. You can shorten irrigations until the water stays in the useful zone.
Does it need calibrating for my soil type?
It's not essential: to decide when and how much to irrigate, what matters are the trends, and they work in any soil. If you need very precise absolute values, it can be fine-tuned against lab samples.
Does it work in stony soils?
Yes, as long as the probe ends up well surrounded by soil. If you hit a lot of stones while making the hole, move a few centimetres: good soil contact is what ensures a good reading.
Do I need Wi-Fi or mobile coverage where I install it?
No. The sensor is connected to an AgroSense module that sends the data on its own, even in plots or barns with no Wi-Fi or 4G/5G coverage.
